What is Gun Game?
Gun Game started life as a fan-made mod for Counter-Strike, and the idea spread far beyond it. Valve later built it into Counter-Strike: Global Offensive as Arms Race, and Call of Duty runs it as a party mode alongside Infected and One in the Chamber. The rules are always the same at heart:
- Everyone starts with the same weapon.
- Every kill moves you up a fixed ladder to the next weapon.
- The first player to score a kill with the last weapon wins.
Nobody brings their favourite loadout, so nobody has an edge from their gear. What decides the match is how quickly you adapt to a gun you did not choose.
How Gun Game online works in ZeroFront
ZeroFront's version keeps the classic rules and adds a few of its own:
- 15 weapons, one per kill. Kill number one hands you the second gun, and so on. Your 15th kill, scored with the Desert Eagle, wins the round.
- Always free-for-all. Gun Game ignores the team setting: every room you create with it plays as every player for themselves, for up to 8 players.
- No explosives. Frags and the RPG-7 are off, so nobody skips a stage with a lucky grenade. Fuel drums on the map still explode.
- Enforced by the server. The room server checks every shot against the gun you have earned. A modified client cannot fire a weapon it has not reached.
- Works in Solo too. Pick Gun Game before a Solo Survival run and kills against the AI waves climb the same ladder.
The full 15-gun ladder
The ladder runs from forgiving close-range guns to weapons that punish a miss:

The order is deliberate. The first eight guns all spray, so an early lead comes from aim and movement. The back half asks you to change how you play every kill: hug corners with the shotguns, hold lanes with the marksman rifles, then land single shots with a bolt-action and a hand cannon.
How do you start a Gun Game match?
- Go to zerofront.pro/play. It runs in Chrome, Edge, Firefox or Safari on desktop and on phones.
- Pick Online FFA or Team Deathmatch (Gun Game always plays free-for-all either way).
- Under Match Rules, choose Gun Game.
- Press Multiplayer, then Create Room, and share the five-letter room code with friends.

Tips to climb the ladder faster
Fight at your gun's range, not your favourite range
The biggest mistake in Gun Game is playing every gun the same way. With the SMGs, push and take close fights. With the PKM, find a long sightline and let the volume of fire work. With the M870 and S12K, stay off open ground entirely. Before each fight, ask whether your gun wins at this distance; if not, reposition first.
Reload between fights, not during them
You get a fresh magazine with every new gun, but that ends the moment you settle in. On the machine gun and marksman stages, top up behind cover after every exchange so you never meet the next player half empty.
Treat the Kar98k and Desert Eagle as precision tools
The last two stages are where leads vanish. Aim down sights, wait for the shot, and aim for the head; a miss gives away your position and a long cycle time. If a player rushes you on the Kar98k, back off around a corner rather than trading at point-blank range.
Learn one map well

One in the Chamber: Gun Game's tense cousin
If Gun Game is about adapting, One in the Chamber is about patience. It often appears next to Gun Game in party playlists, and ZeroFront has it too:
- You get a pistol with a single round, and any hit with it kills.
- You have three lives. Lose them all and you spectate the rest of the round.
- A kill gives you another round. Miss, and your pistol refills after 6 seconds, so one miss is not the end.
- The last player standing wins. It always plays free-for-all.
It rewards the opposite of Gun Game's aggression: hold your shot until you are sure, and let other players waste theirs.
